OTOPLASTY

The prominent ear is the most frequent of all the congenital defects of the ear, it is possible to notice from the birth and it increases in the course of time. The ears finish developing at about 7 years of age. The child grows, starts having social life and goes to school, where the possibility of developing some type of social trauma increases. The friends and children of the school start doing mockery of the child calling it by nicknames. The idea of this surgery is to avoid these problems, correcting the form and size of the ears. The ideal age for the above mentioned procedure is from the 6 to 7 years of age.

Procedure: patient with sedation (in hands of the anesthetist), the ears are marked where the changes will be, incision, and modeling of the cartilages, closing of the incision of the ear. A bandage is placed.

The result is natural and nice ears.
